Ambleside battled back from 2-0 down before drawing 2-2 against league leaders Wigton at The Cinderovens playing surface in Kendal.

Wigton who going into the game had won two from two after having conceded just one goal made a dominant start and were 2-0 up in quick succession.

However Ambleside began to create opportunities after they searched for a way back into the game with Donna Robinson and Maddie Townson going close.

And Ambleside pulled a goal back close to half time following a clinical strike from Donna Robinson with the visitors 2-1 up at the break.

Wigton tried to extend their advantage however they were met by a strong and composed Ambleside defence who cleared the ball away on numerous occasions.

Ambleside looked dangerous on the attack as they searched for the equaliser with Townson, Robinson, and Lucy Dixon going close.

However the hosts eventually equalised late midway through the second half when Lucy Dixon slipped inside the Wigton defence before placing the ball past the Wigton keeper.

Both teams searched for a winner while Wigton missed a late penalty as the points were shared on an enjoyable game of Hockey.

Ambleside’s development team were also victorious when they defeated Keswick 3rds 3-1 with Maddie Townson on the scoresheet.

Ambleside’s first team travel to play Ulverston on Saturday while the development team are scheduled to host Carlisle Thirds on Sunday.
