Ambleside Hockey Club opened their season with a successful Hockeyfest event, encouraging new players to join following the gold medal success of Great Britain at this summer’s Olympics. HockeyFest is a national campaign organised by the National Governing Body, Great Britain Hockey, and has seen great numbers across the country picking up their sticks as the sport enjoys the effects of GB’s victory in Rio.
Players took on a variety of mini-games, including the ‘Olympic Ring’ challenge to test out their shooting skills, and facing Ambleside’s keeper in a Penalty Shootout.
There was also a range of tasty baked treats on offer, raising £75.39 in total, with proceeds from the sale going towards Rosemere Cancer Foundation, supporting their work with cancer patients across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Interested in joining the fun? We welcome players of all ages and experience. Please check our About Us page for details on all the club has to offer.
After a short break over the summer term, Ambleside are now looking ahead to the new season with fresh confidence. Both the Cumbria and Netherwood League teams showed strong progress towards the end of last season, which they will be looking to carry on in to this. Off the pitch, new committee members and volunteers also bring fresh enthusiasm and excitement for the upcoming year.
