End of season presentation

2016 to 2017 season awards

The Club has made great strides this season at all levels, confidence and belief that they can accomplish great things is growing, the players have the talent to make this club successful.

We finished a creditable 6th in the Cumbria League and 3rd in the Netherwood league this season, each and every player involved should be congratulated on this achievement. Special thanks to Polly, Caroline, Lucy, Holly and Jill for leading the teams so well.

For some reason our membership has dropped, certainly not what we or England Hockey expected following last summer’s Olympics, so we had to reduce our training time to 1 hour on a Tuesday! We were unsure as to how this would work with all teams together, but I think some players have definitely benefitted, but it is not ideal.

Minis continues to prove successful with large numbers attending Friday night practice, and competing in the festivals

It is very important that we all have fun, but we must put in the work to bring about the success we strive for, players benefit from playing alongside the same people each week as they learn to gel together! and so it would be great to have a more settled 1st team squad next season.

If anyone would like to assist on a Tuesday, please feel free to come down and lend a hand, I would really appreciate it.

Or if your talents lie, in umpiring, admin or fundraising, we would welcome your help to lighten the load on the few, we really do need you!

And so, onto the awards!

The captains, vice captains and myself put names in the frame, with so many talented players at all levels, it’s been very difficult to choose!
